Windows 2000 Does Not Recognize a Digital Video Camera or Other 1394 OHCI Devices When Connected (310051)

SYMPTOMS

When you connect an IEEE 1394 Open Host Controller Interface (OHCI) device, such as a digital video camera, to your computer, Windows 2000 may not recognize the device.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if your computer has a high-speed CPU and the IEEE 1394 OHCI controller has a slow response time.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Windows 2000 service pack that contains this hotfix.
