Links 2001: Error Message When You Try to Load a Course: Exception Access Violation in LS Interface (308525)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to load a course in Microsoft Links 2001, you may receive an error message similar to the following:
Exception access violation in LS interface;; ls Japanese version []+0X43705 0X0044e7c5 location ls interface is japanese version []+0x43705

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the course file is damaged (corrupted).

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, replace the course file. To do this, use one of the following methods, depending on the source of the course.

Method 1: Links 2001 Course

The following courses are included in Links 2001:
  • Aviara Golf Club
  • Chateau Whistler
  • Mesa Roja
  • The Prince Course at Princeville
  • St. Andrews Old Course
  • Westfields
Follow these steps to reinstall Links 2001:
  1. Insert Links 2001 Disk 1 into your computer's CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.
  2. On the setup screen, click Add/Remove.
  3. Click Reinstall, and then click OK.

Method 2: Links 2001 Expansion Pack

The following courses are included in the Links 2001 Expansion Pack:
  • Thanksgiving Point
  • The Canyons Course at Bighorn
  • Pelican Hill
  • Banff Springs
If the course causing this error message is part of the Links 2001 Expansion Pack, reinstall the Expansion Pack.

Method 3: Downloaded or Custom Course

If the course has worked without error in the past, restore a copy from backup, or download an undamaged copy.
