XCON: Exchange Connector for SNADS Does Not Correctly Convert Some Characters After You Install SP4 (308286)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5
  • Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 SP4

This article was previously published under Q308286

SYMPTOMS

If you use the Microsoft Exchange Connector for SNADS to communicate with CA-Mail in Mainframe, the characters are converted by using conversion tables. Some characters, in Portuguese for example, and some bold fonts from CA-Mail are not converted correctly after you install Exchange Server Service Pack 4 (SP4).

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, replace the current versions of the following character table conversion files with the files from your backup:
  • 1252_256.csm
  • 1252_500.csm
  • 256_1252.csm
  • 256_850.csm
  • 500_1252.csm
  • 500_850.csm
  • 850_256.csm
  • 850_500.csm

MORE INFORMATION

The character mapping tables keep the information in hexadecimal format and can be edited to correct the mapping character. You can edit the character mapping tables if you use a hexadecimal editor and can find the correct character match.
