Server Publishing Rules Intermittently Fail (307784)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2000

This article was previously published under Q307784

SYMPTOMS

Server Publishing rules may stop working properly on your ISA Server-based computer. When this occurs, ISA Server may intermittently stop listening on various TCP ports that are configured for server publishing. This could happen to server-published ports like SMTP that is using port 25, POP3 that is using port 110, http port that is using 80 or any other port that is configured for server publishing.

When ISA Server stops listening on a port, that port is missing from the status list when you run the netstat -an command to show the status of all TCP and UDP ports that are active on the system.

CAUSE

This problem can occur because Winsock is unable to process certain error conditions that are returned by Accept.
