Compact Disc Insert Preview Appears Different from the Printed Output (307675)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Plus! for Windows XP

This article was previously published under Q307675

SYMPTOMS

When you print a compact disc insert by using the Microsoft Plus! for Windows XP Compact Disc Label Maker feature, you may notice that the appearance of the printed track list is different from when you preview it on a computer monitor.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if both of the following conditions are true:
  • You select a font for the track list that is smaller than 12 points in size.

    -and-
  • The track list contains more items than can be displayed on a single page (approximately 30).
This behavior occurs because, for fonts that are smaller than 12 points, there is a greater difference between the size of the font when it is displayed on a computer monitor versus when it is printed. This is because of the difference between the resolution of the computer monitor and that of the printer.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, select a font size of 12 points or larger. Fonts of this size are printed in approximately the same dimensions as they are displayed on the computer monitor.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
