SYMPTOMS

The installation/configuration program for the .Net Framework Software Development Kit (SDK) QuickStart tutorials creates a number of Internet Information Server (IIS) virtual directories on the local Web server. Uninstalling the SDK does not remove these virtual directories.

RESOLUTION

To remove the virtual directories manually, complete the following steps:
  1. Open the Administrative Tools folder in Control Panel. (On Windows XP, you must first go to Performance and Maintenance and then Administrative Tools.)
  2. Open Internet Services Manager.
  3. Locate the QuickStart virtual directory in the default Web site.
  4. Delete the virtual directory.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
