"Access Denied" Error Message When You Print to a Network Printer or View the Printer Properties (307053)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to print to a network printer that requires trusted credentials, or when you try to view the properties of the network printer, the following error message may appear:
Access Denied.
Also, you may not be able to save a password for the network printer after you connect to the printer.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you do not select the Save Password check box when you first connect to the printer on a network that uses trusted connections.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, remove and then reinstall the printer through the Printers and Faxes command on the Start menu. When you first connect to the reinstalled printer and must enter credentials, click to select the Save Password check box.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
