Connection settings change after you apply an Internet Explorer Maintenance GPO (306936)

SYMPTOMS

When you apply an Internet Explorer Maintenance Group Policy object (GPO) by using Preference mode, your Internet Explorer dial-up networking settings may change from "Never dial a connection" to "Always dial my default connection" even if you are connected to a LAN.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if the Enable Autodialing feature is enabled within the GPO.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue:
  1. Right-click the OU that has the GPO linked, and then click Properties.
  2. Click the Group Policy tab, click the GPO, and then click Edit.
  3. Expand User Configuration\Windows Settings\Internet Explorer Maintenance, and then click Advanced.
  4. Double-click Internet Settings, click Advanced Settings, and then click to clear the Enable Autodialing check box.
