Help Files Are Filled with "XOX" and "XOX XOX" After You Install Visual Studio 6.0 (306741)

After you install Microsoft Visual Studio version 6.0, some help files may be full of "XOX" and "XOX XOX" characters, or that the plus signs (+) may be missing. You may notice this symptom in the following Help tools:

- Character Map Help

- WordPad Help
CAUSE
This issue can be caused by Script Debugging being enabled in Internet Explorer 6.0 with Visual Studio 6.0 installed.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, turn off script debugging:
- Start Internet Explorer 6.0.
- On the Tools menu, click Internet Options, and then click the Advanced tab.
- Under Browsing, click to select the Disable Script Debugging check box, click Apply, and then click OK.
