Some Controls May Not Function During DVD Playback (306698)

SYMPTOMS

If you click one or more of the controls in Windows Media Player while a DVD is playing, the control may not work. For example, when you click Resume while a DVD is playing, nothing may occur.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the control has been disabled by the manufacturer of the DVD. There are many user operations that are controlled by settings that are made when the DVD is encoded by the manufacturer. If the control or feature is disabled by the manufacturer when the DVD is encoded, it will not work in Windows Media Player.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

  • Pause

  • Previous
  • Resume
  • Rewind
  • Search
  • Stop
NOTE: There are additional features that may be set, and these settings can change at different points during playback. DVD playback in Windows Media Player for Windows XP requires a compatible DVD decoder.
