Audio Becomes Distorted If You Repeat Playback and the Graphic Equalizer Is Enabled (306685)

SYMPTOMS

When you are listening to short media files, the audio may become distorted if you repeat the file playback. This issue can occur if the graphic equalizer is enabled and set to something other than the default.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, disable the equalizer:
  1. In Windows Media Player, click Now Playing Tools on the View menu.
  2. Click Graphic Equalizer.
  3. Click the On button to turn the equalizer off.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

This problem typically occurs only with files that are shorter than two seconds.
