PRB: IFS Kit Conference 1994 Videos Contain Two Unnecessary Files (306421)

The Windows XP Installable File System Kit (IFSKIT) contains two DVDs of the IFSKIT Conference 1994 Videos. These DVDs contain training material with an .asf extension. The second DVD contains several files with an .asf extension that run under Windows Media Player. It also contains two .asx files. These two files are not necessary. These files are indexes and will not run under Windows Media Player. Double-clicking on them will launch Windows Media player but the files will not play. Instead an error message will appear:
Windows Media Player Error
The system cannot find the file specified.
CAUSE
The .asx files are index files and are not meant to be played.
RESOLUTION
Use the .asf files only.
STATUS
This behavior is by design.
