Computer Stops Responding and You Receive "The Current Application Will Be Terminated" Error Message (306403)

SYMPTOMS

When you are connected to the Internet, your computer may stop responding and you may receive an error message similar to one or both of the following:
Fatal OD has occurred @ 0028:C001539A
The current application will be terminated
Fatal OD has occurred @ 0246:013F47FB
The current application will be terminated
When you press CTRL+ALT+DELETE to open the Close Program dialog box, Mgavrte may be listed as Not Responding.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you have McAfee Clinic installed on your computer.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, remove all instances of McAfee Clinic from your computer, and then reinstall the program. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, and then click Run.
  2. In the Open box, type msconfig, and then click OK.
  3. Click the Startup tab, click to clear all check boxes that are associated with McAfee Clinic, and then click OK.
  4. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  5. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  6. Under the list of installed programs, click McAfee Clinic, and then click Add/Remove to uninstall McAfee Clinic.
  7. Restart your computer.
  8. Reinstall McAfee Clinic.
