Error Message When You Right-Click a File in Windows Explorer: Unable to Load Language Resource DLL (306391)

SYMPTOMS

When you right-click a file in Windows Explorer or an icon on the desktop, you may receive the following error message:
Unable to load language resource dll.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur after you install Corel WordPerfect Suite version 7 or 8, or Corel Paradox 9.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use one or both of the following methods, as necessary.

Uninstall and Reinstall WordPerfect Office Suite or Suites

If you have one version of WordPerfect Office Suite, uninstall and then reinstall the suite. Reinstalling over the existing copy does not fix the problem.

  1. Uninstall Corel WordPerfect Office 7.
  2. Uninstall Corel WordPerfect Office 8.
  3. Install Corel WordPerfect Office 7.
  4. Install Corel WordPerfect Office 8.

Copy the Missing File from the WordPerfect Office CD-ROM

If uninstalling and reinstalling does not solve the problem, follow these steps:
  1. Insert the WordPerfect Office CD-ROM into your computer's CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive, and then hold down the SHIFT key to prevent the CD-ROM from starting automatically.
  2. Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files or Folders.
  3. Click the Name & Location tab, and then type sh*.dll in the Named box.
  4. In the Look in box, point to the arrow, and then select the computer's CD-ROM drive.
  5. Click to select the Include subfolders check box, and then click Find Now.
  6. In the Find Files dialog box, right-click Shellwp.dll, and then click Copy.
  7. On the desktop, double-click My Computer, browse to C:\Windows, and then click Paste on the Edit menu.
  8. In the Find Files dialog box, right-click Shlwp9en.dll, click Copy (in WordPerfect version 8, the file name is Shlwp8en.dll).
  9. On the desktop, double-click My Computer, browse to C:\Windows\System, and then click Paste on the Edit menu.
