Visio2002: Performance Is Degraded When You Perform Certain Tasks (306175)

SYMPTOMS

In Visio, you experience performance degradation when performing any of the following:

You close a property dialog box.
You start BizTalk Orchestration Designer.
You create a page.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the following conditions are true:

The default printer is on a network.

-and-
The default printer is currently unavailable.

-or-
The network connection is slow because of problems on the network.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service release for Microsoft Visio 2002. For additional information, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Temporary Workaround

To temporarily work around this problem, use either of the following methods:

Set the default printer to a local printer.

-or-
Set the default printer to a network printer that has a fast network connection to the BizTalk Server computer.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Visio 2002 Service Release 1 (SR-1).
