BUG: Cannot Import a 64-bit Application into COM+ 1.0 Format (305760)

SYMPTOMS

In COM+ 1.5 on a 64-bit computer, although you can export a 64-bit COM+ application in COM+ 1.0 format, you cannot successfully import it into COM+ 1.0 on Microsoft Windows 2000. This problem also occurs with application proxies.

CAUSE

This behavior is by design. 64-bit applications are not supported on 32-bit systems. This option should not be available in the COM+ 1.5 graphical user interface (GUI) to avoid confusion.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
