"Program Requires 256 Colors (8-Bit)" Error Message When You Start School House Rock 1st-4th Math (304800)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to run the Creative Wonders School House Rock 1st-4th Math program, you may receive the following error message:
This program requires 256 colors (8-bit) to run properly.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the color palette is set for a color selection other than 256 colors, for example High-color (16-bit) or True Color (24-bit).

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, change the color palette settings for the program:
  1. Right-click the desktop shortcut or the executable file (*.exe) for the Creative Wonders School House Rock 1st-4th Math program.
  2. Click Properties, and then click the Compatibility tab.
  3. On the Compatibility tab, under the Display options, click to select the Run in 256 Colors and the Run in 640 x 480 screen resolution check boxes.
  4. Click OK to make the changes take effect.
