SYMPTOMS

After you create a Network Name resource in Cluster Administrator or with the Cluster.exe tool, you may receive the following warning entry in the System log:
Event Type : Warning
Event Source : ClusSvc
Event Category : Network Name Resource
Event ID : 1149
Description : The DNS Host (A) and Pointer (PTR) records associated with Cluster resource TestClusterName were not removed from the resources associated DNS server.

If necessary, they can be deleted manually. Contact your DNS administrator to assist with this effort.

CAUSE

The warning entry that is listed in the "Symptoms" section of this article is generated when the Network Name resource is initially created and the resource has not been yet been brought online on the node that is hosting the resource. The name is also not yet registered in WINS or DNS (if dynamic DNS is implemented).

MORE INFORMATION

Once the resource has been brought online, the DNS and WINS entries are updated. The warning entry that is listed in the "Symptoms" section of this article can be safely ignored.
