This article shows you how to create a combination chart. A combination chart is a chart on which different series have a different chart type. For example, one series might be a bar chart. Another series might be a line chart. You can create a combination chart in Access 2002 by using PivotChart views.

Example Steps

  1. Start Access.
  2. On the Help menu, point to Sample Databases, and then click Northwind Sample Database.
  3. Open the Invoices query.
  4. On the View menu, click PivotChart View.
  5. Drag the OrderDate by Month field to the Drop Category Fields Here area. This will display the years in the Category fields area.
  6. Drag the Salesperson field to the Drop Series Fields Here area.
  7. Drag the ExtendedPrice field to Drop Data Fields Here area. This will display the sum of extended price per employee per year.
  8. On the View menu, click Properties.
  9. In the Select box on the General tab, select one of the data series, for example, Laura Callahan or Margaret Peacock.
  10. On the Type tab, click the type of chart that you want in the smaller box on the left, and then click the chart subtype that you want in the larger box on the right. Note that this changes the data series, depending on your selections.
  11. Repeat steps 9 and 10 for all the data series that you want to display as a different type of chart.
