Visio2002: Array Shapes Add-on Does Not Copy as Expected (302867)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Visio 2002 Professional

This article was previously published under Q302867

SYMPTOMS

When you join wall shapes together to form a room in Microsoft Visio, the Array Shapes Add-on (macro) may not work as expected.

In addition, the following shapes, when placed on a Room shape, may also display abnormal behavior when you use the Array Shape macro:
  • Window
  • Door
  • Curved Wall

RESOLUTION

To achieve consistent results with the Array Shapes Add-on (macro), use either of the following methods.

Method 1: Don't Include Wall Shapes in Your Selection

Make sure that the wall or room shapes in the drawing are not selected when you use the Array Shapes macro. This may help you achieve good visual results.

Method 2: Nudge the Wall Shapes Away from Exterior Walls

Select the Wall shapes and use the direction keys (UP ARROW, DOWN ARROW, LEFT ARROW, or RIGHT ARROW) to nudge them away and disconnect them from Exterior Wall shapes.

Then, while the Wall shapes are selected, run the Array Shapes Add-on (macro). After the macro has completed, nudge the arrayed shapes back into their connected and glued positions with the Exterior Wall shapes.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
