When you click a button on the Office Shortcut Bar, the Office Shortcut Bar (OSB) stops responding (hangs). When you press CTRL+ALT+DELETE, you see "Microsoft Office Shortcut Bar (Not responding)", and you must click End Task to close the Office Shortcut Bar.

CAUSE

The button on the Office Shortcut Bar is linked to an MS-DOS program, and your computer's operating system is Microsoft Windows 98.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use either of the following methods.

Method 1

In the Office Shortcut Bar, right-click the button to the MS-DOS shortcut, and then select Open.

Method 2: Use a Toolbar

Use a toolbar on the Windows taskbar instead of using the Office Shortcut Bar. For information about how to create a new toolbar on the Windows taskbar, please refer to the Help topic "Creating a new toolbar" in Windows 98 Help.
