SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to print a document in Microsoft Picture It! Publishing, you may receive an error message similar to the following:
PIDOCOB: Out of memory

There might not be enough memory to complete this operation or another problem may exist.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the following conditions are true:
  • The Selective startup option in the System Configuration Utility dialog box is selected. -and-

  • Some of the lines in the System.ini file and the Win.ini file are not selected.
-or-

  • The Selective startup option in the System Configuration Utility dialog box is selected. -and-

  • The Process System.ini file and the Process Win.ini file options are not selected.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, make sure that the System.ini and Win.ini files are correctly processed when the computer starts. To do this, follow these steps.
  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Information.
  2. In the Microsoft System Information window, click System Configuration Utility on the Tools menu.
  3. On the General tab, click Normal startup - load all device drivers and software, and then click OK.
  4. Restart the computer.
