The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Content Management Server 2001
  • NCompass Resolution 4.0

This article was previously published under Q302072

SYMPTOMS

When you work in the template editor or when you create a new page, the placeholder control is not displayed as expected. The placeholder that is added to the template during its initial creation appears as a large yellow .gif file labeled "HTML Placeholder."

Note: When you use HTML editing software such as Homesite, this is normal observed behavior when you are in browse or design mode. The control appears as a large yellow box labeled "HTML Placeholder."

CAUSE

CAUSE Possible reasons for this behavior are as follows:
  • The template source HTML may be malformed.
  • An INCLUDE statement in the template may include a .js file.
  • A space may not exist between the opening and closing <Script> tags that reference an external Java file.

RESOLUTION

If the template source HTML is malformed, run the source through an HTML validation tool. You can also switch to edit mode when you use the HTML editor.
