Clip2002: Clips Removed from Clip Gallery 5.0 Are Available in Clip Organizer (300527)

SYMPTOMS

If you manually remove some of the clips that are included with Clip Gallery 5.0, those clips may become available again after you install Clip Organizer.

CAUSE

Clip Organizer cannot read the Artgal50.mmc file, in which Clip Gallery stores information about the clips that are deleted.

RESOLUTION

To manually remove the unwanted clips from Clip Organizer, follow these steps:
  1. Run Clip Organizer.
  2. Find the clip that you want to remove.
  3. Right-click the clip, and then click Delete from Clip Organizer on the shortcut menu.
Clip Organizer modifies the *.mmw file in the folder for the collection that contains the deleted clip. These folders are located under the following path:

drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Media

NOTE: You can restore the original clips at any time by running Setup.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

If you have administrative permissions and delete the clips on a shared network installation, the removed clips are gone for all users.
