SetProperty Method of AuthManager Object Removes ProfileTicket on URL (300526)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Commerce Server 2000 SP1

This article was previously published under Q300526

SYMPTOMS

If you use the SetProperty method of the AuthManager object to set a property in the profile ticket and make the ticket URL-based, clients are not recognized when they hit the next page as a guest. This problem does not occur if you do not set the property.

CAUSE

The use of the SetProperty method is not documented correctly. When you use SetProperty, the property is set on the ticket, and this ticket is kept in memory. The ticket is issued to the client only on a subsequent call to the SetProfileTicket or SetAuthTicket methods (depending on the type of ticket that you use in SetProperty) for tickets that are issued as a cookie. For a ticket that is issued on a URL, the ticket is issued to the client only on a subsequent call to the GetUrl method.
