OnePoint Service Does Not Automatically Restart When Handle Count Is High (300352)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Operations Manager 2000

This article was previously published under Q300352

SYMPTOMS

If the Agent Event queue is full on a Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) managed node, the agent service (OnePoint) may not automatically restart when the service exceeds the handle count.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, manually restart the OnePoint service on the managed node.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

MOM has a rule, which by default is enabled, that monitors the agent's handle count every 15 minutes. When the handle count exceeds the threshold, which by default is 10,000, MOM restarts the agent. If the Agent Event queue is full, the rule to restart the agent service cannot run.
