"Snapview.ocx Could Not Be Found" Error Message Appears When You Start the Reporting Tool (300136)

SYMPTOMS

When you start the Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) Reporting tool, you may receive the following error message:
Snapview.ocx could not be found.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because the Snapshot Viewer component of Microsoft Access 2000 was not installed when you installed Access.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, add the Snapshot Viewer component:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • If you installed Access by using the Office 2000 Setup program, click Microsoft Office 2000 on the Install/Uninstall tab, and then click Add/Remove.
    • If you installed Access as an individual program, click Microsoft Access 2000 on the Install/Uninstall tab, and then click Add/Remove.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

The Snapshot Viewer (Snapview.ocx) is a program that allows you to view, print, and mail a "snapshot" (a copy of memory at a given instant), such as a report snapshot. By default, Access automatically installs Snapshot Viewer the first time you create a report snapshot. The Snapshot Viewer component is available on Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1.
