This article was previously published under Q299996 SYMPTOMS
When you use Network AutoDiscovery to discover routers, switches, hubs, workstations, and printers on your network, the process may pause before completion, and then the Undiscovered Networks dialog box is displayed before layer-2 discovery begins.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if you use Network AutoDiscovery without using a scheduled discovery.
RESOLUTION
To work around this issue, use a scheduled discovery to discover routers, switches, hubs, workstations, and printers on your network.
To do this, follow these steps:
- On the AutoDiscovery menu, point to Discovery, and then click Discovery Wizard to begin working in the Discovery Wizard. Or, click the Discovery button on the AutoDiscovery and Layout toolbar.
- In the Discovery Wizard - Discovery Type dialog box, click to select the Configure delay launch check box.
- Specify the time and date to run the scheduled discovery, as well the requested user information.
- Follow the remaining instructions in the wizard.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
