SYMPTOMS
When you start Microsoft Windows, you may receive an error message similar to the following:
Fatal error: Could not create socket
You may also be unable to browse the Internet.
CAUSE
This issue may occur in the following situation:
- You install NetSonic Internet Accelerator (Web accelerator).
- You attempt to uninstall the Web accelerator program or you reinstall Windows without first removing the Web accelerator program.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods:
Method 1: Reinstall and Uninstall NetSonic Internet Accelerator- Install NetSonic Internet Accelerator.
- Uninstall NetSonic Internet Accelerator:
- On the taskbar, click Start, then point to Programs, then point to NetSonic, and then click Uninstall NetSonic.
- Click Continue Uninstall, click OK, and then click Finish.
- Click OK to restart the computer.
Method 2: Remove NetSonic Internet Accelerator from Startup Group- On the taskbar, click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type msconfig, and then click OK.
- In System Configuration Utility, on the Startup tab, click to clear all check boxes that are related to the NetSonic Internet Accelerator program. For example:
eZulaMain msbb Gator NetSonic - Click Apply, click OK, and then click Yes to restart the computer.
