Filmstrip View Is Not Available (299542)

SYMPTOMS

If you select Use Windows classic folders in the Folder Options dialog box, Filmstrip is no longer available on the View menu in folders that contain pictures.

CAUSE

This issue can occur because the Filmstrip feature requires that Show common tasks in folders be selected to view the full functionality.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, select Show common tasks in folder:
  1. Double-click the My Computer icon.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
  3. On the General tab, click Show common tasks in folder under Tasks.
  4. Click OK.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

When Show common tasks in folders is selected, hyperlinks to common tasks are displayed in the left pane of a folder. In folders that have been configured to contain pictures, you can click these links to perform such tasks as View as slide show or Copy all items to a CD.
