Server for NIS Stops Responding with More Than 70 Users in a Single Group (299442)

SYMPTOMS

Server for NIS that is included with Services for UNIX version 2.0 may stop responding (hang) if a group has more than 70 users. This may occur if the group was migrated into Server for NIS with more than 70 users, or if an administrator manually adds users to a group until the group membership exceeds 70.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem.
