The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q299429 SYMPTOMS
After you configure a Hotmail account in Outlook 2002, new Hotmail messages do not appear in the Hotmail Inbox that appears in the Outlook Folder List.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because you have not configured Hotmail in a Send/Receive group.
This behavior is by design. All account types require this configuration in order to download messages.
RESOLUTIONFor more information about how to configure Send/Receive groups, click Microsoft Outlook Help on the
Help menu, type choose accounts and folders in the Office Assistant or
the Answer Wizard, and then click Search to view the topics
returned.
MORE INFORMATION
For Outlook 2002 to poll for new messages, the Hotmail account must be configured in a Send/Receive Group, and a Send/Receive action must be performed on the group.
By default, the Hotmail Inbox is configured to poll and new messages download whenever you perform a Send/Receive action. However, the setting to include the Hotmail Inbox may have been removed from the Send/Receive group or you may want to configure additional folders to be checked for new messages.
