OLEXP: Error Message: Signature File Does Not Exist. Signature Feature Is Disabled (299415)

SYMPTOMS

When you restore Microsoft Windows 98 as your operating system after using Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (ME), and you then attempt to open, forward, or reply to a message in Outlook Express, the following error message may appear:
Signature file does not exist. Signature feature is disabled.
You may receive this message whether or not you are using a signature file in Outlook Express.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, turn off the option to use a signature file:
  1. Start Outlook Express.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Signatures tab.
  3. Click to clear the Add signatures to all outgoing messages check box.
  4. If a signature file appears in the Signatures section and you do not want to use a signature file, click the signature, and then click Remove.
  5. Click Apply, and then click OK.
