Error Message: Invalid Setting in the Msdos.sys File: Doublebuffer (299308)

RESOLUTION

1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Folder Options.
2. Click the View tab.
3. If it is not already selected, click the Show hidden files and folders option.
4. If it is not already cleared, click to clear the Hide protected operating system files (Recommended) check box.
5. Click Yes when you receive the following prompt

   You have chosen to display protected operating system files (files labeled System and Hidden) in Windows Explorer. Are you sure you want to display these files?

   and then click OK.
6. Click Start, point to Find, and then click For Files or Folders.
7. In the Search for files or folders named box, type msdos.sys. In the Look In box, click the drive on which Windows is installed (usually drive C), and then click Search Now.
8. Right-click the Msdos.sys file, and then click Properties.
9. Click to clear the Read-only check box, and then click OK.
10. Right-click Msdos.sys, and then click Open With.
11. In the Open With dialog box, click Notepad, and then click OK.
12. Delete the DoubleBuffer=number line.
13. On the File menu, click Save, and then close the file.
14. Restart Windows.
