The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Visio 2002 Standard

This article was previously published under Q299139

SYMPTOMS

When you enable "snap to geometry" functionality and then move an object close to a shape in a CAD drawing object, "snap to geometry" functionality appears to be disabled.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if the portion of the shape that is included in the CAD drawing object has been cropped out of the CAD drawing object frame.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, enlarge the CAD drawing object frame to include the entire shape. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. On the standard toolbar, click the Crop tool.
  2. Drag one of the CAD drawing object's selection handles so that the shapes are included in the CAD drawing object's frame.
  3. Drag the shape that you want to position by snapping to the geometry until it is in position.
  4. If necessary, you can return the CAD drawing object frame to its original shape by again using the object's selection handles.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
