SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to send a daily summary or a test message in Outlook Mobile Manager, the connection wizard may take a long time to attempt to send the message (as if the system has stopped responding), and then you may receive the following error message:
Mobile Manager could not save your changes. Please exit and restart.
Click Help, and then click Troubleshooting; the following error message is logged:
A MAPI error occurred. (Error Code: 0x80040113)
The description for the error lists error code 1217, which indicates:

The connection to the Exchange server has been lost. There is a network problem or the Exchange server is offline. Contact your network administrator.

At this point, you must exit Outlook Mobile Manager, close the system tray icon, and then restart Outlook Mobile Manager to reconnect to your Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server or Microsoft Exchange Server computer.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if network connectivity is disconnected, which prevents contact with the Exchange 2000 or Exchange Server computer. This issue can occur if the server is unavailable, or if a cable, network adapter, or other network problem exists.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, check your network connectivity to ensure that you can still connect to your Exchange 2000 or Exchange Server computer and other network shares. If this issue persists after you restart Outlook Mobile Manager, consult your network administrator.
