FIX: Document That Fails Validation in the Editor Is Processed Without an Error in the Channel (298675)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2000

This article was previously published under Q298675

SYMPTOMS

BizTalk Server may not properly validate documents with text elements that do not adhere to the required minimum or maximum lengths.

CAUSE

The BizTalk Editor validates the document immediately when parsing the document. However, BizTalk Server loads the document into the Microsoft XML (MSXML) Document Object Model (DOM) when it processes the document in a channel, and then relies on the DOM to correctly validate the document. When this validation problem occurs, the MSXML DOM does not return a parsing error when validating the document. Therefore, BizTalk Server Messaging does not return an error.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in BizTalk Server 2000.

This problem was first corrected in Microsoft XML (MSXML) 3.0 Service Pack 1.For additional information, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
