FIX: Cubes with a Remote Partition and Parent-Child Dimension Display #ERR (298594)

SYMPTOMS

If a cube contains a parent-child dimension and also has a remote partition, the data members for the parent-child dimension display #ERR instead of valid values for the members of the parent-child dimension.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 (the Analysis Services Components - Sql2kasp1.exe). For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services version 8.0. This problem was first corrected in the Analysis Services Components of Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 1.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Navigate to the FoodMart 2000 database in Analysis Manager.
  2. Create a new cube, named TestCube, and use the sales_fact_1997 table and employee dimension table.
  3. Right-click the Partition folder to create a remote partition and use all the default settings.
  4. Save the remote partition as RemoteTest1, and then process the partition.
  5. Browse the cube data.
