SYMPTOMS

When you connect to Outlook Mobile Access and enter your user name and password, you encounter one of the following scenarios:

-OR-
Bad credentials for domain.corp.com

Scenario 2

You are prompted repeatedly for your user name and password, and the following event is logged in Microsoft Mobile Information Server in the System event log:
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: W3SVC
Event Category: None
Event ID: 100
User: N/A

However, when you attempt to personalize your device from the http://server/airweb Web page, you can do so and no errors occur.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because your password for the wireless account has expired, or the User must change password at next logon option is enabled.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, reset the password on the wireless account. To do so, you can log on to the account and change the password, or you can reset the password on your -W or auxiliary domain/forest wireless account in Active Directory Users and Computers.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

This problem only occurs in security topologies that have a separate wireless account. If you are using an integrated security, you may not be able to log on to the Preferencing page, and a more descriptive event from the W3SVC error is logged that states that the logon problem is due to the password expiration or that the password must be changed upon first logon.
