Event Type: Error
Event Source: MIS IntranetBrowse
Event Category: None
Event ID: 861
User: N/A
Computer: MISServer
Description:
The intranet site MENU is present in the list of allowed browse sites, but failed a browse request with status 401 Access Denied. This may indicate a configuration problem with the site.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the URL that you are trying to access on the intranet site is either invalid, malformed, or it is not in the Intranet Browse access list.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem:
  1. Verify the settings on the Intranet Browse access list:
    1. In Mobile Information Server, click Start, point to Programs, point to Mobile Information Server, and then click System Manager.
    2. Right-click the Mobile Information Server Installation object, and then click Properties.
    3. On the Intranet Browse Sites tab, verify that you listed the site name, and that you typed it correctly.

The value that you specify here must be the name of a Web server. You cannot specify a particular virtual folder or intranet page. For example, if the server is named "sales", you should type sales.
  2. Verify that the intranet site is valid and that you can access it through a phone simulator on the intranet:
    1. Install the Phone.Com/Openwave WAP browsing simulator from the following Web site:Microsoft provides third-party contact information to help you find technical support. This contact information may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this third-party contact information.
    2. Install the simulator on Mobile Information Server, and then browse the intranet site directly.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
