PRB: Upgrade of Application Center 2000 to SQL MSDE SP1 Fails (298157)

SYMPTOMS

When you upgrade an Application Center 2000 server to SQL Microsoft Data Engine (MSDE) Service Pack 1 (SP1), the MSDE service pack may fail to install.

CAUSE

Application Center 2000 does not install a complete version of SQL MSDE. When SQL MSDE SP1 is executed, it cannot find an installation of SQL MSDE to update to SP1.

RESOLUTION

SQL MSDE SP1 should not be installed on Application Center 2000.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Application Center 2000. This problem is scheduled to be fixed in Application Center SP1.
