When you use X12 documents with Microsoft BizTalk Server that use either Real (R) or Number (N) data types, your documents may fail data validation. The reason provided for validation failure may be similar to the following error message: Length is greater than the maximum. To provide support for newer specifications, BizTalk Server now provides a property named Custom Maximum Length. This new property allows data that includes plus (+) or minus (-) signs and decimal points (.) to be excluded from the calculation of the length of field data.
