XADM: Active Directory Objects Are Not Associated to the Mailbox That Corresponds (296644)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
  • Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5

This article was previously published under Q296644

SYMPTOMS

Active Directory objects may not be associated to the mailbox that corresponds, after the Active Directory Connector replication cycle completes.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if there is a value for the ADC-Global-Names object before the Connection Agreement completes its replication cycle.

RESOLUTION

WARNING: If you use the ADSI Edit snap-in, the LDP utility, or any other LDAP version 3 client, and you incorrectly modify the attributes of Active Directory objects, you can cause serious problems. These problems may require you to reinstall Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server, or both. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems that occur if you incorrectly modify Active Directory object attributes can be solved. Modify these attributes at your own risk.

To resolve this behavior, run the Microsoft Exchange Server Administrator program in raw mode, and then delete the values for the ADC-Global-Names object. You can either force the Connection Agreement to replicate, or enable the Connection Agreement to complete as usual, and then Active Directory object resynchronizes to the mailbox.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
