Creating a Subweb and Seting Password Protection on a UNIX Site

  1. Establish a connection to the Internet.
  2. Start FrontPage 2000.
  3. On the File menu, click Open Web.
  4. In the Open Web dialog box, type the complete Uniform Resource Locator (URL) to your Web site in the Folder name box (for example: http://www.yourwebsite.com), and then click Open.

    NOTE: This action opens your Web site "live" from the server.

Creating a New Subweb and Assigning Permissions

  1. On the File menu, point to New, and then click Web.
  2. Under Options in the New dialog box, type http://www.yourwebsite.com/myweb as the location of the web site.

    NOTE: This action creates a new subweb that you can access later.

Setting Security on this Subweb

  1. On the Tools menu, click Security, and then click Permissions.
  2. In the Permissions dialog box, click Use unique permissions for this web, and then click Apply.
  3. On the Users tab, click Add.
  4. In the Users dialog box, make sure that Allow registered users browse access only is selected.
  5. Click OK, and then click Apply.
  6. On the File menu, click Close Web.

    NOTE: This action closes your active connection to the server.
Security is now set on this subweb.
