The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Commerce Server 2000

This article was previously published under Q296334

SYMPTOMS

When you run the Microsoft Commerce Server 2000 setup, you can still proceed with the installation even if a service account is not specified in the Service Settings dialog box.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Commerce Server 2000.

MORE INFORMATION

By default, the Service Settings dialog box is pre-populated with information from the logged on user account who is running setup. However, if for some reason the user removes the account information from the dialog box and does not provide another account, the setup still proceeds.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Run the Commerce Server 2000 setup.
  2. In the Setup Type dialog box, click Complete as a setup type.
  3. In the Service Accounts dialog box, select the Use the same account for each service and set all to auto start check box.
  4. In the Service Accounts dialog box, in the Service Settings section, delete any information in the Username, Password, and Domain text boxes. In other words, do not specify account information. Notice that the Next button is enabled so that you can proceed in the setup program even though you did not specify the account information.
