SYMPTOMS

When you try to run the Commerce.MTSPipeline or Commerce.MTSTxPipeline package in a server application (out-of-process) within Component Services, you may receive the following error message:
Commerce.MtsPipeline (0xC0000005)
Component Execution failed for component[0x0] hr: 0xC0000005 ProgID: Commerce.Splitter.1 (orderform=default)

RESOLUTION

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Commerce Server 2000. This problem was first corrected in Commerce Server 2000 Service Pack 1.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Install Commerce Server 2000, and unpack the retail site.
  2. Configure a shipment method so that you can complete a purchase.
  3. Import a catalog so that you can shop on the site.
  4. From Component Services, change the properties of the CommercePipeline application so that it is a server application.
  5. Shop on the site, and try to complete a purchase. You receive the above-mentioned error message.
