PRB: Use of OLAP 7.0 Add-In Fails with Outdated Comdlg32.ocx (296208)

SYMPTOMS

Attempting to use the OLAP 7.0 add-ins, such as Archive and Restore Database Add-in, without having the sample application installed on a Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 server, causes the following error message to occur:
Failed to load control 'commandDialog' from comdlg32.ocx. Your version of comdlg32.ocx may be outdated. Make sure you are using the version of the control that was provided with your application.

CAUSE

The OLAP 7.0 add-ins require the Comdlg32.ocx file version 6.0.81.69, or later. If you installed OLAP and you did not install the Sample Application, the updated version of the Comdlg32.ocx file was not installed.

MORE INFORMATION

This problem only occurs on a Microsoft Windows NT 4.0-based computer. On a Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional-based computer or a Microsoft Windows 2000 Server-based computer, an updated version of the Comdlg32.ocx file version 6.0.81.69 is installed.

Step to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Install OLAP 7.0 on a clean Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Server-based computer.
  2. During the setup, make sure to clear the option to install the Sample Application.
  3. After the OLAP 7.0 installation completes, install the OLAP 7.0 add-ins.
  4. In OLAP Manager, right-click the server, and then select Restore Database...
