To perform the search, Systems Management Server must be configured differently from the standard default settings. You will need to inventory the specific files listed above from within the Software Inventory Agent and add files of type .dll and .inf. (By default, only the *.exe files are inventoried.) You will need to perform an inventory of the computers to be audited and create a query that looks for the following information:

Simple value = Attribute
Software file = Filename
Attribute class of the files

NOTE: Collection of the files themselves is not required for Systems Management Server to inventory for Visual Studio products. Configuration of the Software Inventory is accomplished in the SMS Administrator Console: from the Site Settings menu, point to Client Agents, and then click Software Inventory Agent.
