Note When you view the data in the error report, the report contains an error signature that is similar to the error signature that is listed at the beginning of this article.

CAUSE

Word 2002 may stop responding if all the following conditions exist:
  1. Your document contains numbering.
  2. Track Changes is turned on in your document.
  3. You click to select the List of markup check box in the Print dialog box, and then try to print the list.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use one of the following methods:
  • Close all other open documents, close Word 2002, and then reopen Word 2002. Before you reopen your document, try to open and close several other documents. Try to print the document again.
  • Remove all numbering from the document before you try to print the document again. To do so, click to select the numbered text, and then click Numbering on the Formatting toolbar.

Note If Track Changes is turned on, make sure that you turn it off before you remove the numbering. If Track Changes is not turned off, your document shows the removal of numbers as new changes. To turn off Track Changes, click Track Changes on the Tools menu.
  • Click to select the Document showing markup option instead of List of markup. To do so, follow these steps:
    1. On the File menu, click Print.
    2. In the Print dialog box, click Document showing markup in the Print what box.
    3. Click Print.
Note The List of markup option does not list all the changes on a separate page. Most changes are listed in the inline bubble. Only changes that are very long are listed on a separate page.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
