OL2001: Limitation of Appointments That You Can Create During Daylight Savings Time (294609)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Outlook 2001 for Mac

This article was previously published under Q294609

SYMPTOMS

When you create an appointment in Outlook 2001 for Mac that resides entirely inside the 2:30-3:00 A.M. time slot on the first Sunday in April, the appointment disappears. Additionally, the start time is set to 3:30 A.M., and the end time is set to 3:00 A.M. on the same day.

CAUSE

The problem occurs during the first Sunday of April because the time slot between 2:00-3:00 A.M. does not exist for areas affected by the Daylight Savings Time (DST). The DST standard moves time forward one hour from 2:00-3:00 A.M and the DST transition occurs on the first Sunday in April for most of the United States and its territories.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, do not create an appointment entirely in the 2:30-3:00 A.M. time slot for the first Sunday in April. Either increase the appointment time slot, or reschedule the appointment to another time slot.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
